The Euridice Choral Society is the oldest choral institution in Bologna.
It was founded as an orphonic choir around 1880 as part of the ‘balle canore’ (singing balls) that animated the districts of 19th-century Bologna. From being a choir with operatic-popular characteristics (it was often called upon for opera performances at the Teatro Comunale), it turned into a polyphonic choir in the first half of the 20th century.

The choir has given concerts in Italy and abroad for important musical associations in chamber music seasons, international festivals and in programmes of theaters and universities; it has made recordings of the most significant part of its repertoire; there have also been a number of ‘first’ performances in modern times of 19th century Renaissance and contemporary music.
